Lucassen group – CELS Oxford
An interdisciplinary research group exploring the ethical, legal and social aspects of scientific and technological advances in healthcare. The group was founded in 2010 at Southampton University, moved to University of Oxford in 2021.
CELS research explores the hidden costs and unintended consequences of medical innovation to guide its responsible and equitable use.
Current projects
Examples of our research include issues related to: ethical preparedness, environmental sustainability and personalised medicine, diversifying genomic data, exploring how results are constructed in whole genome approaches, familial communication of genetic information, and consent and confidentiality in genomic medicine.
