Experiencing personalised medicine

The term ‘personalised medicine’ can take on different meanings in different contexts. In a sense, the medical profession has always attempted to personalise medicine to the individual  patient they are seeing. Our approach involves collaborating with a diverse range of people to understand what personalised medicine means to them. We draw on research that highlights the complexity of patient journeys through genomics, and have been working with participants to develop resources that demonstrate this. These resources highlight the various routes people take and the support systems, and the wider context of their lives that  they rely on to manage this process. Our aim here is to help  prepare individuals and families for the challenges that may lie ahead.

The CPM explores how best to contribute to enhancements of healthcare practice, and reach a deeper understanding of personalised medicine based on real-life experiences.
