Personalised prevention within the context of the CPM strategy
The CPM Research Showcase 2025 took place on 4th February at St Anne’s College, Oxford. Personalised prevention aims to tailor preventative health strategies to individual characteristics, for example, genetic, lifestyle or environmental factors. The aim is to prevent or delay the onset of disease more effectively than a one-size-fits all approach. Whilst this holds much promise for improving healthcare outcomes, this promise can only be realised if we also consider some of the challenges to successful integration. The Centre for Personalised Medicine Research Showcase brought together researchers and stakeholders from a range of disciplines to explore the latest thinking on personalised prevention, in its broadest sense. In this showcase, we aimed to explore both how the potential may be realised and the challenges overcome, by discussing research underway at the University of Oxford, along with the wider political and social context within which these ambitions are situated.
