2026 Dr Stanley Ho Memorial Lecture: Personalising Vaccines for Canver Prevention
Cancer vaccines hold promise not only as treatments for established cancer but also as tools to intercept cancer before it becomes invasive disease. In this lecture, Professor Tim Elliott will explore how advances in immunology are opening up a new era of personalised cancer prevention. The lecture will introduce the concept of preventative cancer vaccines designed for individuals with defined cancer predispositions or pre-cancerous lesions, and will consider both the opportunities they create – for genuinely intercepting cancer development – and the scientific, clinical and ethical challenges that must be overcome before such strategies can be used widely in practice.
