Katherine Wood

Katherine was a Junior Research Fellow between 2021 and 2023. She then spent 2 years at Oxford Nanopore Technologies developing innovative DNA sequencing methods before moving to Portal Biotech to develop novel protein sequencing technology.

Emilie Wigdor

Emilie is a Post-doctoral Research Scientist. Her research focuses on the genetics and functional genomics of neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders. In the Sanders Group, Emilie’s main projects are BrainVar and BrainNet. These studies use whole genome sequencing and single-cell multi-omic approaches to analyse gene expression across the span of human cerebral cortical development, and to dissect the autism transcriptome. You can find out more about Emilie’s research here.

Nicky Whiffin

Nicky is an Associate Professor and Career Development Fellow at the Big Data Institute and the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics. You can find out more about her work here.

Jason Torres

Jason was a CPM Junior Research Fellow from 2018 – 2022. He is currently Genetic Epidemiologist Lead at Oxford Population Health. You can find out more about Jason’s work here.

Martijn van de Bunt

Martijn was the first CPM Junior Research Fellow from 2015 – 2018. He is now Chief Scientific Officer at Cytoki Pharma, a Danish biotech start-up. You can find out more here.

Dr Padraig Dixon

Dr Padraig Dixon is Senior Researcher in Health Economics at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford. He is also a Research Fellow at Reuben College, Oxford, and Associate Director in Health Economics for the Central and South Genomic Medicine Service Alliance.  He has degrees in Economics from Trinity College, University of Dublin (BA) and Nuffield College, Oxford (MPhil and DPhil), and in Health Economics from the University of York (MSc).

His research interests relate to economic issues associated with the increasing availability of genetic data, particularly in relation to how these data might be used to support causal inference, screening, prognostic modelling, and the evaluation of the cost-effectiveness of stratified therapies.

Before returning to Oxford, he held a personal Medical Research Council Skills Development Fellowship at the Integrative Epidemiology Unit at the University of Bristol. He also spent several years as an economic consultant in the private sector, advising regulators, governments, and large corporations on economic issues related to the regulation of network industries

Dr Sarah Briggs

Sarah was a CPM Junior Research Fellow from 2022 – 25. Her DPhil research, funded by the Medical Research Council, evaluated the use of polygenic risk scores in predicting bowel cancer risk. Sarah’s ongoing research interests include assessing the environmental impact of the genomic technologies increasingly employed to personalise healthcare. She studied medicine at the University of Oxford, and is a clinician, training in Medical Oncology in Oxford.
